Cara Magoon, Founder and Academic Tutor

Over the past 4 years, Cara has tutored several students from the beginning to the end of their Algebra courses both in middle and high school. She has tutored other subjects ranging from elementary mathematics to AP Physics. She's worked in students' homes, schools, and online with nonprofits, tutoring agencies, and online tutoring companies. While in college, she worked as a teaching assistant and volunteered in other teaching capacities.

After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Virginia, a friend on the volleyball court asked Cara if she would tutor his son. She met with the student and agreed to tutor him while looking for engineering jobs. She thoroughly enjoyed tutoring and committed to it full-time after finding more families who appreciated her kind and genial approach to their students' academic success and well-being.

Cara makes it easy for students to become accustomed to working with her and asking questions. Parents can rely on her to keep them informed of progress and to suggest ways that they can support their child's learning. Having tutored algebra to many students in various environments and with several texts, Cara has a thorough understanding of the material and can adapt her techniques to fit the needs of each individual student.
